Spring/Summer Fashion Forecast

As the temperature has plummeted here, I am looking ahead to Spring/Summer and finding some joy that we have passed the winter solstice and that our days will start getting longer.

I find it intriguing how fashion often focuses on a specific area of the female form each Spring/Summer with legs, décolletage (a nice way of saying busts) backs and shoulders having been seen in fashion over the past seasons.

This Spring/Summer there is a real emphasis on the abdomen area with abs being seen in streetwear to the red carpet. This is unlike the short top and low slung pant with g-string hanging out the back looks of the past and is certainly not reminiscent of the Britney Spears bare it all brigade.

With the movement in fashion to dress more modestly, there is a more covered up approach to this look – so you will often just see an inch of skin rather than a six pack. These looks can also be created wearing a mesh top under a suit, cut out detailing in a dress and a top worn with a long skirt or wide leg pant.

If you have a nice midriff, and you want to have a go at this look, do it. The look is very stylish when it is done well.

Stylists Tip – it’s important when you are wearing a look like this, to really own it.  Once you commit to it, rock it. No tugging and readjusting ok lovelies.
